Newmontis Lists Starbucks Anchored Shopping Center Near Chicago
Today it was announced that Commercial Real Estate firm Newmontis has listed Matteson Center, a Starbucks anchored shopping plaza just 35 minutes to downtown Chicago. The property has been 100% occupied by its original tenants since its construction in 2014. Other tenants include Mattress Firm, T-Mobile and Giordano’s (with full bar). Strategically located at the hard-corner of one of the busiest intersections in Matteson, it sits as an outparcel to a 100% occupied institutional-quality power center anchored by Ross, Marshalls, PetSmart, Dollar Tree and Burlington Coat Factory.
Historically a large-user, destination-retail town, Matteson is capitalizing on its unique location next to the I-57 to transition into a “smart-retail” hub and logistics center for Illinois and the entire Midwest. This transition has driven the success of the small-shop, out-parcel and drive-thru retail properties like Matteson Center. Matteson is updating its commercial properties into service-oriented, consumer-focused destinations, such as the Sam’s Club e-commerce distribution facility and the Central Park Trucking Properties trucking and logistics center. Lennar Homes is building over 300 single family homes to meet the growing consumer demand for housing.

In October 2019 the village board in south suburban Matteson approved plans to develop a new casino, which would include a 200-room hotel, high-end-restaurant and convention space, according to a news release from the village. The development would include minority businesses and provide a multi-cultural history exhibit of the area. Operated by the Chocktaw Nation of Oklahoma, the casino would sit at the corner of Lincoln Highway and Harlem Avenue, adjacent to Matteson Center.
