Australian entrepreneur Rodney Menzies just purchased a pricey pad on Billionaire’s Row. Menzies paid $21.6 million for unit 65B at Extell’s One57, according to city records.
The businessman got a hefty discount on the ultra-luxury apartment, which was last listed for $28.3 million. The three-bedroom, 3.5-bath unit has 4,193 s/f. The 71-year-old Menzies founded Menzies International, a private company, in 1969, and it has become one of Australia’s 500 most profitable companies. The conglomerate includes the cleaning business Menzies Group, the art auction house Menzies Art Brands, the vineyard Noorilim Estate, and Menzies International Racing Stables. Corcoran agent Haidee Granger brokered the deal for Menzies.

VOICE coach Norma Garbo is selling her Greenwich Village loft. The 2,800 s/f space at 830 Broadway has a key-locked elevator sound proof recording studio at 13 foot ceilings. Garbo is credited with helping a host of celebrities tune up their pipes, including Taylor Swift, The Scissor Sisters and Full House actress Lori Laughlin. Elliman agents Deborah Hughes and John Catanese have listed the one bedroom at $3.15 million.
Madison Equities has just released a $68.5 million triplex penthouse called The Crown to market at 212 Fifth Avenue. Shlomi Reuveni at Town New Development is handling sales and marketing for the project, a 1912 conversion overlooking Madison Square Park.
Developer Robert Gladstone said of the penthouse, “This particular residence breaks the mold on luxury and will serve as the crowning achievement in the residential real estate arena.” The Crown will have 10,000 s/f of interior space on the third floor and 5,700 square feet of exterior space on the second floor. There are upper and lower terraces and parapet. The lower terrace extends the full length of the building. The outdoor observatory on the upper terrace has been “lavishly appointed for entertaining.ˮ – Interior design firm Pembrooke & Ives created the penthouse.
