The Greenpoint residential development boom continues unabated, with Grand Street Development filing plans for its new six-story, 49-unit residential building at 848 Lorimer Street.
The Brooklyn developer, led by CEO and co-founder Dean Marchi, filed permit applications Wednesday with the city’s Department of Buildings for the property, located between Driggs and Nassau avenues across from McCarren Park.
The building will span more than 36,000 square feet of residential space, with two apartments on the first floor, 10 units on the second floor and 12 units on each of the third and fourth floors, according to the filing. The fifth and sixth floors of the property will hold nine and four apartments, respectively.
The project promises a fair amount of residential amenities including a pet spa and 140 square feet of bicycle storage on the cellar level. The first floor will hold a 748-square-foot gym, a residential lounge and another 248 square feet of bicycle storage, and the second floor will feature a nearly 2,100-square-foot outdoor recreation area. The development will also accommodate 24 vehicle parking spaces for residents.
Grand Street Development filed plans in August to demolish the one-story warehouse currently occupying the site, with the project the latest in a wave of residential development that promises to transform the North Brooklyn neighborhood.
The property was also the subject of a lawsuit last year — when Douglas Elliman sued Grand Street principal Marchi for allegedly squeezing the brokerage out of its 4 percent commission on 848 Lorimer Street, which Grand Street acquired for $16 million last April.
Neither Grand Street nor Issac and Stern Architects, the project’s architect of record, returned requests for comment.
Marchi’s boutique firm has one other North Brooklyn project in the works, a 71-unit mixed-use rental building at 774 Grand Street in Williamsburg.
