UPDATED, March 7, 6:30 p.m.: Tenants charge G-Way Management, a boutique real estate company that manages 410 Eastern Parkway, is trying to kick them out of the Crown Heights building to increase rents.

“G-Way Management has been threatening [tenants’] health and safety and engaging in tactics that border on criminal behavior,” Public Advocate Letitia James said at the protest in front of the 72-unit, six-story building.

Tenants say G-Way has not fixed mold and rodent infestation issues in apartments, and denied tenants lease renewals, Politico reported.

A representative from G-Way e-mailed a response to The Real Deal saying the company aims to comply with all safety regulations and address issues in a timely manner.

“We’ve managed 410 Eastern Parkway for the last  22 months and addressed all issues in a timely manner,” the representative wrote. “The building was built in 1928 and currently has less than 1 housing violation per unit, much below average compared to similar 88 year old properties.”

James and Assembly member Walter Mosley, who represents the booming Crown Heights neighborhood, say they’ve been trying to meet with G-Way for almost a year, but to no avail. James has targeted unscrupulous landlords during her tenure in office, and despite pushback, continues to use lawsuits as a means to push the city for change.

According to James, G-Way has more than 630 violations on several buildings throughout the city, Politico reported.

James’ “Worst Landlords” list — which features property owners who have racked up the most violations relative to the number of apartments they own — came under fire when it wrongly included a landlord two years in a row.
